The porch garden is winding down. The Emerald Evergreen tomatoes haven’t done much except grow and try to take over. There are tomatoes but it looks like they’re suffering from blossom end rot. I’ll probably take the plants out this weekend and see if any of the tomatoes look like they’ll ripen indoors.
Our Thai Pink Egg tomatoes that Baker Creek sent free have been star producers this year. We’ve harvested quite a few of the small, tasty tomatoes. I read on a message board that some folks didn’t like them and thought they were tasteless — maybe they picked them too early or something because ours taste good. Plus the plant has been very productive. There are a bunch out there now that I need to pick this weekend.
The bell peppers are blooming — too late to do anything I’m afraid. I’m going to leave them and see how far they get before it gets too cold. If they survive the winter maybe they’ll do something in the spring but I doubt they will.
So it looks like things on the porch garden are wrapping up. The worms in the worm bin have been busy chowing down on the garden remains. Verimcomposting is working well now.
