Little Xander Bear is two months old today! He did catch Ryan’s cold but it never got too bad, no fever, just stuffed up and a little bit of coughing. His regular baby sneeze is just cute but his having a cold sneeze is by far the cutest thing ever. He turns into a pillbug, brings his arms and legs up and curls into a ball while he sneezes. Truly adorable!
Yesterday Xander got to visit with his Aunt Lauren and Uncle Michael. They were stopping by on their way back home to California after working on their boat in Anacortes.
We had a fun time visiting and I wish it could have been longer but they were trying to outrun the snow storm. Hope they made it through Grant’s Pass without getting caught in more snow.
Today Xander is seven weeks old! He’s up over 9 pounds now! Yesterday I took him out for a walk and put him in his bear suit for the last time, could barely get the thing zipped!
It’s great that he’s growing so much, a good sign that he’s healthy and everything is going well. But, at the same time it is just so sad. I’ve been packing away his clothes as he outgrows them and adding that adorable bear suit to the box is just to hard! He used to be so tiny!
At least he hasn’t outgrown his first pair of overalls yet, they’re still baggy on him.
Hopefully the next post won’t be about his first cold, Ryan is wiped out with a nasty cold and I’m just starting to get the sore throat and achey all over feeling. Really hope Xander Bear doesn’t catch it!
Xander slept for nearly five hours straight last night! When he woke me for a nighttime feeding, I couldn’t believe it that it had been so long since I had put him to bed. I sure hope that this is the beginning of a trend, five hour stretches are sure a lot better than two or three hours!
Yesterday was a rather exhausting day for him. He had another bath. He enjoyed this one a lot more, or at least he fussed a lot less. The whole bath experience seemed to wear him out, he spent most of the day either nursing in my arms or snoozing in my Mom’s.
Today he’s been pretty awake and active. He’s had fun with some tummy time. He can lift his head up and turn it from side to side and lift his whole back end off the ground but still no lifting with his chest or arms.
He’s gained a lot more control of his arms. It used to be that he’s thrash them about and if they happened to go by his mouth he’d nibble his fingers. Now he actually moves his hand directly to his mouth to suck on his fingers. He also likes to grab onto my hair (ouch!). I can’t wait until he has more hand control and can start playing with his little toys!
This morning we had fun reading his books.
We’re still at the stage where I enjoy the book more than he does. My favorite one to read to him is Sandra Boynton’s Doggies. It’s a counting book with different dog sounds and of course, Poppy Seed and McCoy have to help read it to him. Really need to get that on video.
It’s just amazing how much he’s growing and changing! Tomorrow he’ll be six weeks old! Has it really been six weeks?!
Xander’s first month just zipped on by! He’s already outgrown most of his “newborn” size clothing and we’re almost to the point of adjusting where the straps are on his carseat. Growing like a weed! His head is still pretty wobbly, but he can lift it and turn it to look around. He also can focus on you and try to follow you with his eyes as you move.
We had visitors to help celebrate his first month-day.
Mom and Julie were at the hospital when Xander was born but this was the first time my brother Chris got to meet Xander. We had a nice visit, opened great presents, and went out for a yummy lunch.
Hard to believe that it has been three weeks since Xander was born! To celebrate turning three weeks old yesterday, Xander got to go on an exciting trip down to the post office. He slept the entire walk.
Today he went on another exciting trip. This time to the library to see where Daddy used to work. And to visit the bears.
He slept through this too. In the afternoon he slept through a trip to the vets to get dog food. We wanted to know how much he’d grown so our vets nicely weighed the Xander Bear for us. In clothes he weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces! He’s gained a whole a pound since last weeks doctor visit.
With all the growing he’s doing this will probably be the last time he can wear his “going home from the hospital” outfit.
