I just wanted to share a bit of sunshine with everyone.
Aren’t the Teddy Bear Sunflowers just lovely? They’ve certainly been the best growers on our porch this year.
The goings on of our family.
Today was CSA day, every Thursday I take the bus down to the Olympia Farmers Market to get our CSA box from Boistfort Valley Farm. I was planning on making lasagna tonight so I had planned to get a lot of chard for it. Last time I made it I used the one bunch they had in our box and Ryan and I both thought, “Oh my this is way too much”. And then it cooked down to this itsy, bitsy amount. So today I bought 3 big bunches of chard.
I cut out the stalk and tore the leaves a bit and then put them in our big pot to cook.
I cut up the stalks and sauteed them with onion, garlic, mushrooms, and sausage. Then I added canned diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and tomato sauce for a yummy sauce. Combine with lasagna noodles, mozzarella, ricotta, and
Okay, now I’m hungry again. Where are those leftovers?
I’ve taken the Greasemonkey script created by Carrick Mundell and modified it to work with the Timberland Regional Library catalog. Right-click and choose Install. (Assuming you’ve already installed Greasemonkey).
With this script when you browse for a book on Amazon the link will show you if it is available in the Timberland Regional Library system. I can’t take much credit for it. I modified a couple lines, that’s it.
We’ll be offline Thursday-Monday. We’re switching ISPs. The old DSL will go down tomorrow and the new won’t be up until Monday.
While watering the plants yesterday, Ryan noticed that we’ve gotten our first tomatoes! The Thai Pink Egg Tomato has several little tomatoes starting. They are so cute!
We’ve also got a new flower on the porch.
This plant is in a pot that was a gift from Ryan’s parents. I have no idea what it is but it sure has taken off this summer. The stalk is over a foot tall! I can’t wait to see what the open blooms will look like.
We had to make a quick trip to the store to pick up some things for Ryan’s birthday cake and dinner and decided that it was a good time to take the dogs in the new car. Now, anyone who knows our dogs will realize that this was a very noisy affair. Since we’ve never had a car before riding in a car has been a very rare occurence for our dogs and they completely freak out. Unfortunately the only way to get them used to the car is to take them on more car trips. Thankfully I got to go into the store while Ryan suffered their brain melting whining and barking in the car.
